Adsum Association for Women & Children

Adsum offers a range of services and support to women, families, youth and trans* persons during periods of homelessness. Adsum operates four Halifax locations: an emergency shelter, second-stage housing and two affordable, supportive housing apartment complexes. Adsum also has three condos that are rented, as permanent supported housing, to women-led families. We shelter or house up to 80 people each day and we provide services and support to more than 1,000 people each year.

Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia

The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia’s mission is to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias in addition to promoting the search for the causes, treatments and cures. They invest in outstanding Alzheimer research and provide valuable programs and services to the thousands of Nova Scotians in need. The Society relies on the generosity of donors, corporate supporters and volunteers to achieve its Mission.

Aninga Project

The Aninga Project is a non-profit educational initiative that supports and encourages the education of girls in Africa by paying for school fees and other related expenses. It is a person-to-person based project that is currently focused on sending girls to school in Uganda.

Aphasia Nova Scotia

Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder, it can affect an individual’s ability to speak, read, write, and understand. Aphasia occurs when areas of the brain responsible for language are damaged by stroke, brain injury, brain tumors or neurological disease. The Aphasia Association’s mission is to provide a safe community where you can increase self-confidence and build independence on your journey to reconnect with society. They offer resources and support for individuals with aphasia, their friends and families.

Bide Awhile

Bide Awhile Animal Shelter is a not-for-profit, no-kill shelter that has served HRM continuously since 1969. At any given time, they have 100 cats and six dogs at their shelter; everyone who comes through the shelter is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, tested for feline leukemia, socialized and much more – all without government funding. That’s why fundraisers are key to their success and longevity.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax offers a diverse and dynamic range of programs that serve children and youth from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and neighborhoods. They help more than 3,900 kids annually by providing safe, supportive spaces where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life. At the Boys and Girls Club, every kid is a kid of privilege.

Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia

As the only organized voice for some 70,000 Nova Scotians affected by brain injury, they are committed to providing programs, education, recovery support and advocacy.  Brain injury survivors and their families look to them every day as a resource and touchstone of support across the spectrum of brain injury. There are an estimated 2700 new brain injuries every year in Nova Scotia.

The Brain Tumour Foundation are here for every Canadian affected by any type of brain tumour with support, education, information and research. Support from events like this, means the estimated 55,000 Canadians living with a brain tumour can find hope. Hope through research. Hope through patient and survivor support. Hope for a cure.

Breaking the Silence is a voluntary network of people in the Maritimes who began to organize in 1988 to support the efforts of Guatemalans struggling for political, social, and economic justice. As a community of people who share this commitment to solidarity, they undertake advocacy and lobbying; organize delegations; send interns, volunteers, and human rights accompaniers; promote fairly-traded coffee; and raise awareness

Childrens Wish Foundation

Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest and only all-Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to more than 25,000 children and their families across Canada, granting over 1200 wishes to date in Nova Scotia.

Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society exists to; support patients and families, raise awareness, improve education, and to fund research. 100% of your donation will go to these areas. Currently, only 8% of Canadian pancreatic cancer patients are expected to survive. They are proud to assist pancreatic cancer patients across Canada and committed to creating hope for each and every one of them.

Dartmouth Family Centre

The Dartmouth Family Centre has operated in the heart of Dartmouth North for more than 20 years, providing a space for new moms and families to support one another, access services and resources, and build a network of relationships. Two years ago we opened the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre in response to food insecurity. We offer a welcoming space where people come together to grow, cook, share and advocate for good food.

Lung Association of Nova Scotia

For over 100 years,The Lung Association of Nova Scotia has been working to improve lung health in our province. With your support, they have been able to build programs for children with asthma and adults struggling with sleep apnea. They have also been supporting patients with COPD, lung cancer, and people awaiting lung transplants.They advocate to government on lung health, and we provide awareness and programming for issues like radon and smoking cessation.
